Financial Assistance
The Organizing Committee may offer limited financial assistance to selected delegates from lower income countries. The assistance that may ultimately be offered will reflect the funding that the Committee receives specifically for this purpose. The amount of this funding is currently unknown and therefore there is no certainty that assistance will be offered. Assistance, if offered, will not include the cost of travel between the delegate’s country of residence and the airport in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Delegates who would like to request financial assistance must:
- Complete the “Request for Financial Assistance” form (please click here to download).
- Submit an abstract for oral or poster presentation during the Congress prior to the deadline for abstract submission (March 15, 2012). Abstracts must be submitted using the online submission facility; however, an additional copy should be included with the request for assistance.
- Provide a copy of their résumé or curriculum vitae.
- Provide a letter from their employer, educational institution, or a similar agency that confirms both their status as an employee, student, etc. and their need for assistance. The letter must be signed by an appropriate authority and include that person’s postal and e-mail addresses.
- Respond promptly in any communication with the Organizing Committee.
Requests must be submitted to finance@iah2012.org prior to the deadline for abstract submission.
The Committee will evaluate requests using the delegate’s professional qualifications expressed in their résumé or curriculum vitae; the quality of their abstract and its relevance to the scientific program for the Congress; the income status of their country of citizenship or residence; the amount of their request; and their employment or educational status. It is unlikely that the Committee will be able to grant all requests regardless of their merit. Delegates will be informed of the outcome of the evaluation of their request prior to the deadline for early registration (June 15, 2012).
Delegates who are offered assistance will be expected to cooperate with any reasonable requirements for the funding received by the Committee. For example, they must be willing to allow their names and photographs to be used in promotional materials for the Congress and funding agencies.
Any questions regarding financial assistance should be sent to finance@iah2012.org.
