IAH Canada 2012 Congress

Travel Arrangements and Customs and Immigration

Delegates must make their own arrangements for travel to and from Niagara Falls and are reminded that the IAH 2012 Congress is being held in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada and not Niagara Falls, New York, USA. Delegates must ensure that they have the proper documents and other requirements for entry into Canada, including a visa where necessary, and also for entry into the United States if that is part of their travel arrangements. It is expected that one of the mid-Congress field trips will require entry into the United States. Most of the trips will not require entry into the United States.

Depending on one’s citizenship, delegates to the IAH 2012 Congress may need a Temporary Resident Visa to enter the Canada. To learn more about these requirements and whether or not they apply to you, please go to Citizenship and Immigration Canada at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp. The visa application process may or may not require an official invitation letter – the embassy or consulate in your city/country will advise you. If an invitation letter is required, please send your request by e-mail to visa@iah2012.org – be sure to quote your abstract/paper ID and title if you are an author of an accepted submission. It should be clearly understood, however, that invitation letters are intended only to assist potential delegates with their application for a Temporary Resident Visa to enter the country to attend the Congress and that the IAH 2012 Congress is unable to guarantee that a visa will be issued.

International delegates who travel to Canada via the USA or will be entering the USA on the mid-conference tour should check with the United States Department of Homeland Security to be sure they meet the requirements and have the proper documentation to enter the USA.
